…And then don’t judge at all.
There is a lot about other people that we don’t see, as much as we like to think that we can talk open and honestly with the closest of our friends. There will always be things that we don’t understand, and that they themselves don’t understand. Things that only God understands.
So let us be slow to speak. Slow to pass judgement. Slow to find faults in others. We often look for the bad before we look for the good. But the existence of bad does not devalue the good. In fact, without bad, there would be no good. I believe there is good in everyone. I also believe that the world would be a much better place if we looked for the good before we even thought to look for the bad. Better yet if we don’t look for the bad at all. I’m not advocating ignoring evil or condoning it in any way. But we aren’t here to be God’s police. We’re here to be His caregivers, and yes, that includes discipline, but first and foremost, in and above everything, it’s about love.
Let us not fall into the trap of self-righteousness, of thinking that we have any right to determine exactly where a person is in their walk with God. May God teach us what it means to rebuke someone else in love, and yet not judge. May He teach us how to love, in everything that we do…
